“(...) el que mira se ausenta, disuelve el contorno y se integra en una sensación pura y abstracta. Al cerrar los ojos, la imagen se exterioriza y no puede borrarse, ni color, ni forma, ni movimiento (...)”

— Manuel Espinosa

Donde empieza la luz (Where the Light Begins) marks the inaugural exhibition at Piero Atchugarry Gallery – La Perla, dedicated to Manuel Espinosa (1912–2006, Buenos Aires), a central figure in Argentine Modernism. Curated by Agustina Espinosa and Bárbara Espinosa, members of the artist’s family, together with Ayelén Vázquez, curator of the Estate, the exhibition offers a rare encounter with Espinosa’s refined language of geometric abstraction—an oeuvre of quiet intensity that invites sustained contemplation.

The title evokes both the generative role of light in Espinosa’s work and the opening of La Perla, marking a moment of reflection, continuity, and renewal.
