For Art Basel Miami Beach’s Meridian section, the Piero Atchugarry Gallery presents “Pillar III”, a site-specific project by Uruguayan-born multimedia artist Guillermo Garcia Cruz.

Pillar is a monumental sculpture exploring digital technology's preponderance in contemporary society. Its verticality and stacked rectangular shapes evoke a pillar, symbolizing strength and stability. Composed of “glitches” — Garcia’s personal leitmotifs referring to fleeting IT errors — the piece conveys both an idea of strength and fragility, reflecting the artist's questions about our increasing reliance on technology. The sculpture serves as a visual metaphor for the potential vulnerabilities of our technological infrastructure and the need for critical reflection.

The solo show dive into the pivotal period of Kohen's career (1971-1999). The timing of this exhibition is significant as it coincides with her 100th birthday in October 2024 and her selection for the 60th Venice Art Biennale. Spanning from 1971 to 1999, the exhibition offers a comprehensive overview of Kohen’s artistic evolution over three pivotal decades of her career. Featuring artworks from key milestones such as her inaugural solo show in 1971 at Moretti gallery (Montevideo) at the age of 46 and her first retrospective in 1988 at Museu de Arte de São Paulo (MASP).
