Alicia Viebrock

Born 1986 in Munich, Germany
Lives and works in Cologne, Germany

Alicia Viebrock studied at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf under Professor Herbert Brandl. The paintings of the young German painter are characterized by high-flowing ink and streaky colors in opaque masses, accompanied by washed-out pigments that marinate on the surface. Abandoning a traditional studio layout to opt for an egalitarian painting process, Viebrock places her canvases directly on the floor, ensuring that she has full control over every angle of the fabric. Her display of poured, dripped and splattered paint are indications of the expressive range of the artist, adopting a highly physical and psychological relationship with the surface. Notable museum exhibitions include the Kunstmuseum Bonn, Deichtorhallen Hamburg, Museum Wiesbaden, Kunstverein Recklinghausen Germany, and Sammlung Grässlin. Her works are in important public and private collections such as the Rubell Museum Family Collection and the Pérez Collection. In 2022 Viebrock debuted "Don’t fence me in", with Piero Atchugarry Gallery, presenting for the first time in Miami, the following year the gallery announced her representation.
